During the last fair Computex 2012 will have seen many interesting things at the motherboard, one of them was the new line of Asus motherboards for AMD and its socket AM3 + . The models have shown are based on current chipset 990FX and as interesting, will use technology support for Thunderbolt .
A few days ago Asus had a device to provide the connection Thunderbolt in some motherboards with Intel LGA 1155 socket, the device in question is called Thunderbolt / EX and is basically a PCI-E that connects to an internal port on the motherboard and a DisplayPort connection.
But the interesting thing is that Asus will also use the same device for AMD motherboards with AM3 + socket. In particular the internal connection Thunderbolt has been on models Crosshair Formula V-Z (990FX + SB950), M5A99FX PRO R2.0 (990FX + SB950), R2.0 Sabertooth 990FX (990FX + SB950) and R2.0 EVO M5A99X (990X + SB950).
As you can see the internal connection is identified as TB_HEADER , by which you can connect a device to have a connection Asus Thunderbolt on a motherboard designed for AMD processors.
We hope that the other manufacturers that have motherboards with socket AM3 + do something similar to the Asus, so the connection is not so limited Thunderbolt only a few models of motherboards.
